we went to california three times this year

and I have never blogged about any of it. So here's post one of three:

The first time was in January when Amy and I both flew out to surprise mom. Her favorite cousin, and first relative to ever visit the US, came to see her for a week. Pop arranged the surprise, and when he told mom that Jacob and I were coming, she said she had to pull over to the side of the road because her legs were shaking so badly. She didn't know Amy was coming until she came through the door ahead of me and Jacob.

We went to Bodega Bay, introduced her to Mexican food, and showed her the Redwoods in Armstrong Woods.
