During the summer, the parks all over NY have a ton of free shows and concerts and plays to go to. I went to more this year than last, but not as many as I'd planned on. I missed Shakespear in the Park again, but I did make it to one of the NY Philharmonic concerts. Lily, my Brooklyn friend, invited me to go to some shows in Brooklyn's Prospect Park, but we only made it to one of them. It was part of Alvin Ailey's 50th Anniversary celebration shows so it the park was packed. The style, as best as I can tell, is a combination of ballet and modern with strong African influence - some jazz, tribal, and gospel mixed all together. I liked most of it. I'm just getting into watching dance though so my brain has to stretch a bit to accomidate new things.
Here's Ellen's take on the Dance Company

ha ha that was a funny video. That sounds like tons of fun to go see! I'm a wee bit jealous
I was laughing so hard at this. I love Ellen.
Me too!! When I'm a stay home mom I will watch Ellen not that other talk show lady. If she's still on the air by then. She's a hoot.
