pigs!

I’ve collected pig items since 5th grade and have received some really cool and unique ones as presents recently. The first is not a pig at all, but came as the result of a request for a pig from a friends trip to the Middle East. My friend had to point out to be that Abu Dahbi is a Muslim city, and odds are there will not be any pig trinkets to be found, considering pig meat is sold in secret back rooms at the butcher shops there… Anyway, Kari brought me back a pregnant camel. The picture doesn’t show it well, but there is a baby in the hump that you can see through the lattice work.

Next, Cassi brought me back a cool carved warthog from her trip to Africa. She and Nic saw plenty of them in real life on their Kenyan safari and have some incredible pictures. One day I will have to get one framed with Nic’s autograph to add to my collection.

As a baby shower gift a talanted friend MADE me a pig out of an old SWEATER. She didn't like the patterns she saw online so she made up her own. SERSIOUSLY. How cool is this pig?

And then Amy sent me this cutting board pig she found for my birthday. Who knew Martha Stewart made farm animal cutting boards for her Macy’s collection? Lucky find.

This makes two pig items in the kitchen (my parents gave me a pig toaster for my birthday two years ago and my favorite part is the painted tail on the back of it), my first custom made pig, and my first additions from Africa and the Middle East. Unfortunately most of my cool pigs have come as the result of other people’s travels, and not my own, but I do appreciate that friends and family have been thoughtful enough to think of me when they’re out globetrotting.

Dang! I fail for not getting you a Filipino pig. Maybe my mom will find you one. . .
