jamie

Jamie came to visit while we were in California. It was great that she was able to meet Jacob and come see where I grew up. It was extra great because since I had someone to play with, Jon felt no guilt about spending the week he was there playing video games with Daniel. So it was a win-win for both of us.

Jacob loved her because she sang songs, read him books and made all sorts of silly noises that made him smile and laugh.

Every day she was there we went for a walk or a hike someplace new. San Francisco, the beach, the foothills and the Redwoods. She has pictures of it all but I was constantly misplacing my camera so I‘m waiting on picture CDs from her and my mom. Here’s the written recap:

Jon, Daniel, Jacob and I picked her up from the airport in Oakland and drove over to meet my parents, Amy and Eric for a Duck tour in San Francisco. Being in the bay made me nervous, but she got to steer the boat around the China Basin. We had a seafood lunch at a restaurant overlooking the marina, and walked Pier 39. We wanted to drive Lombard Street and see the Victorian houses from the start of Full House and walk the Golden Gate Bridge but it started raining and the car nearly ran out of gas while we were on the steep incline awaiting our turn down the crooked part so we bailed and drove around looking for gas stations that have a diesel pump instead. Dumb diesel Jetta.

After Church on Sunday, Mom, Jacob, Jamie and I went to Bodega Bay. She is not one of those middle state people who had never seen the ocean before, but she still thought it was cool. The waves were huge and the tide was coming but I still made her run out and touch the water and we climbed on the rocks hoping to see a starfish but we only found bits of jellyfish blobs.

The next morning we went for a hike with mom and her friend in the foothills so Jamie could see the valley I grew up in. We went shopping later so she could get a vintage looking coat to match the one Danny gave me for Christmas. We look like Audrey Hepburn circa 1963.

Another morning Mom and Jacob and Jamie and I drove out to one of the redwood groves and walked around among the giants. It’s always unbelievable how huge and old and beautiful they are. That night to end her visit we all went to the Oakland temple.

Here's the only picture I have of her trip:

I LOVE this pic....because I was holding Jacob and then all of the sudden he stopped moving. I then realized he had drifted off to sleep. Tender moment. (and your cds with pics will be in the mail on MONDAY!)
