Last night we went to watch bull riding at Madison Square Garden. The whole evening only cost 4.50. Are you impressed Mindy? We paid 2.25 each to take the subway down and left within two hours so we could use the bus transfer and ride home for free. We watched half the show and left after the Mutton Bustin’
A friend offered to babysit but I remembered how in Idaho there were always babies at rodeos so I thought it wouldn’t be weird to take him along. But when I got there I remembered I was in New York City and it was weird since it seems like most people keep their little ones on lockdown. But it was fine, he slept through the entire hour and a half we were there and only woke up on the bus ride home. We have no idea how he slept though all the noise, music and cheering but he’s rad and he did.
We went two years ago on Friday night and though we paid for the cheap 10 dollar tickets, nobody was there so they let us sit anywhere we wanted and ended up with great views. This time there were a ton of people, including the Naked Cowboy, and while the 10 dollar seats were still available at the door, a stranger gave us tickets they had won so we got to go for free.
Only five cowboys rode for 8 seconds while we were there, so the highlight was the mutton bustin’ , and listening to the group of guys sitting behind us who clearly had no idea what was going on.
“What do they do with the bulls back there?”
“They take them in the back and soothe them.”
Instantly I imagine the bulls being offered towels while entering a steam room with new age music and aromatherapy candles…

I am so impressed on your frugal date!
Yay for bull riding in NY! I heart the mutton bustin' and plan on having my child participate in this when he's old enough.
I love your posts.....I love the way you write! And yeah for fun adventures.
I'm confused about why you paid for the subway. Do you have a car now? Do you not get an unlimited anymore? What's happened since I left?
P.S. I wish I could take a magic carpet to NYC so we could go on great adventures
